'Nwantantay Plank Masks' is part of a series of Mask Cards, beautifully illustrated in house by co-founder Amy Fleuriot.
These abstract wooden masks of the Bwa peoples living in Burkina Faso are used in performances to embody ancestor spirits or nature. The bold designs take inspiration from insects and plants. The masks are worn at agricultural festivals to ensure good crops and at initiation rituals celebrating adulthood and honouring the deceased.
