Soapstone is a beautifully tactile material with an appearance similar to that of marble, it is a metamorphic rock that is composed primarily of talc. Because it is composed primarily of talc it is usually very soft. Soapstone is typically grey, blue-ish, green, or brown in colour and is often variegated. Its name is derived from its "soapy" feel and softness. Because of its softness, soapstone is easy to carve into all different shapes and designs.
