IN VERSE | SUNRISE OVER DELHI
I inhale shallow breaths as we speed along
The pollution in Delhi is thick and strong
Silhouettes of trees fade into the horizon
Multi storey blocks and geometric pylons
Cars tooting loudly overtake from both sides
As boxes of white chickens are pedalled by
Buildings rise up through the morning light
Black against the sun so orange and bright
Clinging low to the ground mist envelops the view
Blending land into sky, a hazy pastel blue.
