Our Eco-Conscious Packaging

Here at Artisans & Adventurers, it is important to us to be as eco-conscious as possible during every step of production. That is why we only use 100% recycled and recyclable packaging when sending out your online orders. From the brown paper tape we use, to the tissue paper, to the cards - each item is ethically and sustainably made to ensure we have as little impact on the environment as possible. As we are committed to preventing landfill waste, we sometimes use recycled cardboard boxes to pack your orders too. We love to encourage our customers to think sustainably, so please recycle or reuse any of our packaging where possible.

Our co-founder and Head of Design, Amy, hand illustrated the beautiful bee design that you will find on our recycled paper pouches that our jewellery comes packaged in. These gorgeous pouches are made by Mohit and his team in Jaipur, who also make our bestselling Paper Light ShadesThe business is Sedex certified, one of the highest standards a factory can achieve for environmental excellence and employee rights. If you'd like to learn more about Mohit and his business, you can  head to Meet Our Artisans page here. These pouches are perfect gift bags for our jewellery, or just make treating yourself that extra bit special!

We have recently added new product information cards to our parcels which tell you a little bit more about each product, where it is made, and how to look after it. We think this extra touch is especially great when you are gifting items as every one of our products comes with its beautiful story that we love to share. Again, these cards are printed on 100% recycled and recyclable paper here in the UK, so once you are done with them they can be popped into the recycling and go on to live another life.

To protect more fragile treasures, we have opted for corrugated cardboard as it is a wonderful alternative to plastic bubble wrap that can be reused or recycled. You will usually find items such as our wooden utensils, soap dishes or soapstone items wrapped in this. We find it does an even better job of protecting delicate items than bubble wrap as it is far sturdier. We often reuse shredded paper and other packing materials that we receive in packages sent to us. Though we try and reduce plastic packaging in parcels we receive, we do occasionally receive goods packaged with plastic, so if you ever find plastic packaging has been used in your parcel don't fret - it has all been recycled. We also use recycled and recyclable white tissue paper to wrap your orders, for protection and also so that they look beautiful if sent straight to the lucky recipient.

Artisans & Adventurers packaging

Each package you receive from Artisans & Adventurers has been loving hand-packed by our small team in our Margate store. We love for it to feel like a special treat every time you open a package from us! We always include a hand written thank you card inside your parcel, which again is printed on recycled and recyclable paper. If you would like to include a gift message alongside your package you are more than welcome to leave one in the order notes and we can include this for you.

But without our usual structure and workspace, many of us can find it challenging to be as productive and focused as we would like. A recent survey of remote workers shows that a huge 72% are not working from a dedicated office space and that 40% of remote workers aren’t even working from a dedicated desk. We think that whatever space you have, it is important to make it feel like your own so that you can get motivated to get to work....

Traditional Tastes | Zimbabwean Dovi Recipe
Traditional Tastes | Zimbabwean Dovi Recipe

January 07, 2021

Dovi, or Zimbabwean peanut stew, is an easy but delicious recipe to prepare. Zimbabwean cuisine uses peanuts quite heavily, though interestingly enough it is not an indigenous crop to the area. In fact, the peanut is a fairly recent introduction into the lands thanks to trading with Europe. Around the 16th century the Portuguese introduced the region to the peanut, which has since become a central feature in most of modern-day Zimbabwean cuisine.
