2024 Colour Trends for Your Home Decor

If there is one thing we love, it is colour! And great news if you're a fellow colour-lover, 2024 is looking to be brighter and bolder than ever. Colour experts have said that this year people will be much more adventurous when it comes to their colour choices. With bold pinks, rich browns and bright blues rising in popularity.

"Colour is a language and as such plays an elemental role in personal self-expression," says Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute. "Some will be turning to bold colours but others will be looking to softer neutrals and calming pastels. There are no rules, it is really about how one feels on any given day and what resonates at the moment."

So, no matter what colours are trending, it is important to pick the perfect shades for you. Here are some of 2024's trending colours...

Brilliant Blue

Did you know that blue is the UK's favourite colour? Reminding us of the sky, the sea, the open air, it's no wonder we love this cool, tranquil colour so much. Blue is a colour that never really goes out of fashion, due to its innate connection with the natural world. There are many shades of blue from bright and bold to soft and subtle, so it's a great colour to play around with in your home. It is also a very tranquil colour, making it ideal for bedrooms and bathrooms in particular.

Blue is an incredibly versatile colour that compliments many different palettes and decor styles. We particularly love styling blue tones with warm colours such as oranges and yellows as it really lets the blue pop.

Pretty Pink

Pink is a colour with an interesting history, it has gone in and out of style more than almost any other colour, always coming back in a new hue, shade or tone. Of course, 2023 was the year of Barbie, alongside which we saw the colour pink rise dramatically in popularity. Shades of blush and baby pink have been in style for some time, but we're seeing brighter and bolder hues become more popular in the year 2024. Peachy shades of pink are also proving popular in 2024, following Pantone's announcement of Peach Fuzz as their colour of the year.

Pink is a surprisingly versatile colour that compliments many different palettes and decor styles. We particularly love styling pink tones with neutral colours such as whites and greys which is particularly great if you're a little colour shy.

Earthy Green

Voted Pantone colour of the year in 2017, the colour green has been utilised throughout history by artists, fashion designers and of course has always been in the natural world around us. Because of its association with the natural world, it is often considered by many to be a relaxing, calming colour. Because of this, many architects and designers use the colour in their projects, especially in interior designs for hospitals, for example. Along with earthy tones, deep greens are also predicted to make a splash in the upcoming year.

Green is a great colour to play around with as it comes in so many different hues. For a really fresh look, we love pairing green accessories with zesty yellow and orange tones.

Rich Yellow

Yellow is the most luminous of all the colours of the spectrum. It’s the colour that captures our attention more than any other colour, and it's definitely been having its moment in fashion and interior design over the past year or so, and we think it's here to stay! In almost every culture yellow represents sunshine, happiness, and warmth and so styling your home with yellow can help instantly uplift a space and completely change the feeling of a room. During the 1960's & 1970's warm oranges, rusty reds and mustard yellows were particularly popular in fashion and decorating, and were often contrasted with bright blues or teals to create a psychedelic colour palette.

Yellow is a versatile colour that really does go with just about everything! Have fun using it as a statement hue or mix and match it with blues to create a retro colour palette.
